New Flavours, Familiar Heart – Discover Our Updated Menu in Douglas

 

Big news from our kitchen in Douglas – we’ve refreshed our menu, and it’s a celebration of the bold and the beautiful!

At On the Pigs Back, we’ve always believed in food that tells a story. Our love for classic French flavours is still very much alive (don’t worry, the Croque Monsieur isn’t going anywhere!), but we’ve also drawn inspiration from the rich, colourful kitchens of the Middle East. The result? A vibrant new menu that blends old favourites with exciting new creations – and with many more vegetarian dishes to choose from, there’s something for everyone.

🥖 Still French at Heart

Some classics just never go out of style – and we’re keeping them proudly on the plate. Our much-loved Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame, both made with Arbutus brioche, creamy Mornay sauce, and melting Emmental, are still here. And for those who love a little something rustic, our Homemade Chaussons filled with pulled pork belly, fennel, and sauce gribiche are a must-try.

Of course, our Cheese & Charcuterie Board and Pâté and Terrine Plate, both from On The Pig’s Back, are staying put – artisan, local, and full of flavour.

🌿 A Feast of Vegetables

Vegetarian doesn’t mean compromise. It means creativity. Our new dishes let the ingredients shine – like the Grilled Flatbread topped with baba ghanoush, charred courgette, Ardsallagh feta, and a bright sauce vierge. Or the beautifully balanced Tabbouleh Salad with grilled Toons Bridge loomi cheese, roast cherry tomatoes, and pickled cucumber.

We’re also proud of our Hot Open Sandwich, layered with cumin-grilled vegetables and beetroot hummus on fougasse bread – earthy, colourful, and packed with texture. Add Toons Bridge loomi or harissa chicken if you’re feeling extra.

🌶️ A Dash of the Middle East

We’ve turned up the heat (just a little) with Middle Eastern spices and ingredients you’ll want to come back for. The Harissa Chicken Salad, with spiced sweet potatoes, chickpeas, tahini, and dukkah, is already a hit. And our Hot Baked Croissant stuffed with za’atar roast chicken, pickled red onion, and melty loomi cheese is comfort food with a twist.

Looking for something to savour slowly? Try the Salmon Rillettes, or our Potato Latke with poached eggs, parsley hollandaise, and McCarthy’s black pudding – a perfect brunch-time indulgence.

Everything we serve is made with care – from the Arbutus bread to the Toons Bridge cheese. Our kitchen is small, our standards are high, and our ingredients are sourced with heart and purpose.
