The English Market

The English Market in Cork is the oldest covered food market in Europe and has been at the heart of the city’s food culture for centuries. It is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.
Our stall in the English Market is a destination for lovers of great food. Specialising in farmhouse cheeses, charcuterie, fresh breads, Irish artisan foods, and French épicerie and specialities, it has become a true rendezvous point for Irish gourmets and food enthusiasts.
Established in 1992 by Frenchwoman Isabelle Sheridan, the stall has grown from strength to strength and has been proudly awarded Best Market Stall in County Cork.
We offer an exceptional selection of hundreds of farmhouse cheeses, with a strong focus on Ireland and County Cork, alongside carefully sourced imports from renowned cheesemongers in France. For over 30 years, we have worked directly with farmhouse cheesemakers, and we always enjoy sharing our passion and knowledge—because we truly love to “talk cheese”.
More than 75% of our cheeses are Irish farmhouse cheeses, showcasing the incredible quality of local producers.
Alongside our extensive cheese selection, our charcuterie offering is one of the most unique in Ireland. From cured hams and traditional French jambons to saucissons, chorizos, and salamis, our stall offers a wide range of delicacies. We also produce our own award-winning homemade pâtés and terrines.
Located in the heart of Cork City, our stall in the English Market is your one-stop shop for cheese, charcuterie, and antipasti, perfect for everyday enjoyment or creating something special.
